Day 6: I am thankful for the sun. I only see it sparingly here in MA, whereas I saw it all day in sunny FL. I find myself missing the constant sunshine, and so I am even more thankful for the sun now. I love the way it can warm and brighten any day. I look forward to being able to take walks with my lovelies, which will only be possible on super sunny days here since it’s already begun to dip into the 40s during the day. Keep on shining!
Day 7: I am thankful for coupons, and the companies that care about getting your business enough to share them with you. I’ve acquired some good ones just by contacting the companies I use frequently. I got the idea to contact companies about samples and coupons from a few blogs and websites out there that list companies that have a multiples discount or program.
For each of these I simply went to their website and clicked the Contact Us link. Here’s what I’ve gotten and found out:
*Playtex – they make bottles, the Diaper Genie, and some other baby stuff. I contacted them because with two newborns we go through a lot of diapers and we are soon to be on our last refill for the Genie. For a three pack it’s about $18-$23 depending where you shop. In my request, I told them I am a mother of twins and that I am interested in trying their Diaper Genie and that I was wondering if they had any coupons. They sent me a coupon for $19.99 towards a Playtex product including a Diaper Genie or refill pack. 🙂 They also sent two $1 coupons. Seriously loving Playtex right now.
*Enfamil – I told them the same thing-mother of twins and interested in comparing products, specifically their A.R. formula and Similac’s Spit Up formula. They sent me a sample of the A.R. along with some $5 coupons. While pregnant I registered for their website and I did receive a few samples in the mail along with $5 coupon checks.
*Similac – I asked the same thing about comparing with Enfamil. They sent me two $2 coupons that expire this year, and two $3 coupons that expire end of next year. They told me to contact my pediatrician who would contact their local rep and I could get samples that way. I had already done that though and my pedi’s office gave me a case of the Spit Up they received from Similac. 🙂 Very thankful for that! While pregnant I signed up for the Similac StrongMoms and I did receive a few samples in the mail along with $5 coupon checks.
*Gerber – I actually don’t remember contacting them, but I must have signed up for their website because they sent a coupon check for $15 and for $3. I was able to get a can of the Good Start Gentle with the $15 check. I’m going to contact them via the contact us link though because I’ve read that they sometimes send out onsies and other coupons.
*Seventh Generation – They sent samples of diapers, wipes, hand lotion, baby detergent, baby lotion, along with coupons for these products. We fell in love with their products through these samples. They are an all natural company so we feel good about using their stuff.
*Beech-Nut – They sent a feeding guide book along with some coupons.
*Shutterfly – Okay, I didn’t contact them, but they are awesome and I want to tell you about it. I keep getting 100 free print coupon codes in the mail. Simply by having an account and I think they may partner with one of the companies I signed up with because the coupons are geared towards someone with a baby. I’ve also gotten a free $20 off coupon code from Motherhood Maternity. They constantly send out coupon codes for free cards or address labels too.
Day 8: I am thankful for smartphones and instant Internet access. I think back to when in college, how I still had a pager until my college roommate made me toss it. What a dork I was; it was the year 2000! Haha. People are so used to having instant access via their phones, especially the younger folks, but I didn’t have this awesomeness until 2009. Thank you iPhone! I know there are other smartphones out there but I love Apple products.
I just love being able to keep up with people on Facebook and WordPress. We also use our iPhones to do baby stuff, like keep track of the babies’ diapers and feeding and stuff on an app called Baby Connect. It syncs instantly and my husband and I can share the information without doing anything. We keep track of appointments, weights, heights, etc on it. Thanks to a fellow blogger for alerting me to that app-I can’t remember who right now though. Shutterfly has a Share Site app that we use to share photos instantly with relatives we’ve invited to the site. (If you are one of my relatives and you want in, pm me on FB.) I love my technology!
Day 9: I am thankful for half price candy after holidays. A busy mom like me needs her sugar rush. And who doesn’t love paying $2.50 for a bag of candy that was $7 the day before?
Day 10: I’m grateful for being able to be home to take care of my lovelies. This is possible because of my wonderful husband. He has to travel 1.5 hrs to work and then 1.5 hrs back from work on public transportation among rude people so that he can make enough money to cover all of our bills to make me being home possible. To counter my comment about rude people-I’m thankful for polite, kind people. I wish there were more of you out there.
